Vupti- who should terminate this Odyssey?

*Dansk version findes længere nede i teksten

I don’t see it myself able to do so! Right now, it’s turmoil in my head. However, there was also quite a lot of water, from Varbjerg Beach, where I almost every summer evening bicycled out to swim, to all the beaches of the world and rivers and seas, by which I/we have lived near and sailed on. Largest has been my dearest, the PACIFIC OCEAN.

Just as every journey starts with the first step, here towards Thailand, my/our other Homeland, I must give a bid, at the last step back home through the arrival of Kastrup Airport?

Here comes my bid. I will like to send as a loving thought to all of you who have been there for me. My family, friends in jobs or in leisure (Fuu, Nhuan, Pattarin, Peter, nurses in Kufa and at Bangkok International, and many others I have crossed roads with).

Friends from this trip (Mach in BKK, Scott and Jennifer and her family, Jason, who stopped his truck and picked me up in Australia’s harsh interior, Rico and his father Raul in Santiago, our family in Brazil Anette, Andrea and Thomas).

Some are directly related to bringing me Home (Karen, Louise and her crew, my brother Aksel, who is always there for me, Gitte H. as a role model). Aksel’s speech to my 80 anniversary holds everything.

At the end Klaus Dohm, in today’s article in the Jutland Post, made fine use some of what I look back on. By “the ground level to stick” is a good idea. With Gitte H., I would like to start a new explorers club: -The Walkers! Rucksack gives access to so much valuable time with young people out exploring, which as well can be at Sea Level, as high up in mountains.

Life has no expiration date, but here must be connected. Perhaps I could write more in a book that would then be called: -an Eye in the Sky! For me, the greatest of all is love. I shall not hide that I am believer. Therefore, I also started the journey by having a Christianity blessing:Go with PEACE!

Thanks to everyone!

Her kommer så mit bud.

Gen & Ken, Hawaii, 1976

Northern Shore

Gen had three sons. One was in VN as a soldier, another in W. Gemany as solder, whereas Bruce joined the Kennedy Peace Corps, and he became colleage and friend in Samoa. Lived later in1974 ½ years With us in DK.
Gen and a new husbond; Ken, lived in the beach village, Kailua, at Oahu over the mountains on the Likelike highway from Honolulu. We, us four plus maid Lene, stayed in 1976 with Bruce on the Big Island en route to six weeks in Samoa. Christian with Rasmus stayer with Gen & Ken, and later he and Anders stayed there as backpackers. Hanne and I again at Khailua in 2005. When Marie 14 years old could not go skiing with her class due Artrisies,, I took the telphone to Hawaii and asked Gen if Marie could compensate by two winterweeks at Hawaii. Gen said: ”She may come”. It became a big succes With a Divers Certifikat at the Waikiki beach. Her teacher even lived in Khailua and drove her over the mountains each day. Ken approached his wife with the question: ”Why did you invite Marie, she is not even American” Gen told him to shut up. She was International hereself. Years later sitting in the month of May, in a couch here at Cph, when we had the couple as our guests, Ken himself revealed the story.
Gen & Ken took a cabin on the Oslo Line, out of Øresund in the afternoon, and into the Oslo Fjord in the morning. Return the other way around. Sitting at their breakfast a couple asked if they could have the two free chairs at their tabel. The were from the ”next village over” at Oahu. No taxi available, but the couple had a bus waiting and offered to bring Gen & Ken free over to the Thor Heyrdahl museums etc. on the opposite side of Oslo. They had, however no more museum tickets, and our friends at least then had to pay their own entrance. They came home laughing.
They had been riding free of charge on th e busv the whole day rigth back to the boat. Their Cruise was a big succes.

Being looked well after. Khun NoJiam

An old SAS man helped me to lease a marvelous house at Soi Sailom, a few hundred meter away from PCD , my coming working place.
The house, one out of seven, was more than big enough, so a number of short staying colleagues (3 weeks courses) could/would then be housed as well. Natually a big swimming pool was an asset.
The guard at the gate, khun Boon, was up from Isan, and suddenly his wife, khun Nojiam, with him moved into my storeroom at the back door.
Despite having no common language things went fantastic from then on.
NoJiam kept the house, pressed my shirts etc., and when I was about to leave Thailand, she said to Marie. Khun Svend: ”Sabai, sabai” (good man).

Western Samoa 1968 – 70, UN

Rachel. The leading lady of ”Society of Friends”.
As junior UN, we did not rally fall in line with all other nationalities. They where either old colonial or from younger, international UN countries such as S. Korea.
When we were ”snatched” on Solo Solo Beach to fall in with Rachel’s group ”Society of Friends”, our fate was determind. For the rest of our stay on the beautiful islands, we did our jobs at daytime five days a week and went ”wild” evert second night and in weekends.outside that.
The two years made us ”cosmopolitan”. Besides gaining professional competence, it was as one long Polynesian holiday, and the trips out going were via NY, California, Hawaii and homebound to Bangkok via Bali and later Nepal, India etc. And that opened our eyes to the grandeur of our Planet.
A young samoan village boy, Faletolu, made us familie with his Lofipo faimily in the very traditionel Polynesian village of Salamumu, and the Volentras made us well known in the small island of Manono.
